NAMM 2013 Right smack in the center of the Music Man booth at NAMM was the brand new John Petrucci JP13 guitar, which at first gives the same looks as the prior JP models, however with closer inspection of the features – we realized this was a whole new ballgame. The JP13 is built a basswood body, mahogany neck with a rosewood fretboard, and custom John Petrucci Music Man Floating Piezo Tremelo…however the JP13 is now outfitted with an onboard pre-amp accessible via the push/push volume control for a gain boost, 500kΩ push/push passive tone for custom 2 pickup configurations with a .022µF tone capacitor, and two new custom-wound DiMarzio JP13 humbuckers. We’re also loving the space-age silver sparkle finish and JP13 shield inlay on the first fret.
